Description
1953, numbered 141/500, incised 'EDITION PICASSO' and 'MADOURA' on the underside. Red earthenware ceramic turned cupel with engobe and enamel decoration, paraffin and glaze.
diameter: 6 1/4 in. (15.9cm)
height: 2 1/2 in. (6.4cm)
[Ramié, 211]
Provenance
Collection of Dr. Ellis F. Rubin and Suzanne Borow Rubin.
In excellent original condition. The surface appears slightly irregular in texture due to inconsistent glazing, though this is likely inherent. With various fingerprint smudges and minor traces of surface soiling throughout. A fine craquelure below glaze is evident, but stable. There are two small glaze chips to rim (the larger 1/16 of an inch). There is a light film of adhesive residue to underside of foot, which appears to be peeling and fluoresces under black light. Tight firing hairline through profile of foot.
