1.The Christian Advocate. Published by the Methodist Book Concern. Vol. 52 No. 44 - Vol. 53 No. 52 November 1877- December 1878. Complete. Bound in 3/4 leather with marbled boards. Covers weak. Spine with losses and splitting off the binding. A candidate for rebacking. The Advocate ran from 1826-1975, and in the 19th century it was thought to be the largest circulating weekly paper in America. 2.The American Phrenological Journal. Vols. 13 & 14. New York. Fowler & Wells. 1851(2). Bound in 3/4 leather with marbled boards, in good condition, with wear, some internal foxing, etc. Covers secure. Spine label present. 3. & 4. 2 volumes of The Illustrated Christian Weekly, Vols. 4 & 5 for 1874-5. New York. Both attractively bound in 3/4 leather with decorated paper over boards. Average wear, covers tight, Vol. 4 with 3" split at top of front hinge. Very popular Victorian Era paper with illustrations by the likes of F O C Darley and others. Sizes: The Phrenology is to H 12" W 9-1/2". The others are folio, the largest is H 18-1/2" W 13- 1/2".
