Clothing recovered from the John Dement trunk found at the S.S. Central America shipwreck. 1.) Men's Night Shirt, thin cotton, two pockets, five cloth covered 1" buttons, all present, V cut in the cuff, indicative of a night shirt. Provence unknown at this point. 17" neck, 32" long, sleeve inseam 22". degradation to left front shoulder. Significant degradation at back center. Pants: three cloth colored buttons, present, matching style and color of tops. 4" form fitting cuff, inseam length 29", waist 34". At top middle are four holes for tightening, no draw string present. Degradation at crotch area mainly in the back. Possible Dement. 2.) Pair of socks. 3" form fitting cuff. 10.5" cuff to heel. 8" heel to toe. No apparent degradation, just stained. 3.)Collar with 1 center hole, no buttons. 3 x 14". No apparent degradation, just stained.Provenance: SS Central America Collection
