Description

A Regency mahogany metamorphic library chair/steps
early 19th century

height 32in (81.5cm); width 22in (56cm); depth of seat 20in (51cm); height of steps 25in (64cm)

Condition

Structurally sound. General marks, nicks, scratches, cracks rubbing and wear. With a pin to back to secure chair in place when closed. With later burlap seat support. Scattered losses around seatrail from previous construction. Repair to left upright of back at joint of arm. Repair to right side of crestrail at joint of upright. Repair to front curve of left arm. Separation at joint at curve of right arm. Leather treads to steps replaced Later cushion. Wear to legs and feet.
