Description
Wood, metal, paper. c. late 1800s. Height: 4 1/2", Length: 11 1/2", Depth: 6 1/4". Functional. Handwritten song list to the inside of the lid. Cylinder is moved with a crank to the left, and songs are changed and controlled with switches on the right. Stamped to the underside by the Swiss Watch Repair Company. No other apparent markings. Handwritten note found inside suggests it was made by the Consolidated Lamp Company. Provenance: From the Estate of Mary Jane Devlin, lifelong resident of Toledo's Old West End and grandniece of Michael J. Owens, glass manufacturer and inventor.
