French 18K Gold, Ivory and Enamel Match Safe, Georges Le Sache, retailed by Tiffany, c. 1900, the cased carved with C-scrolls and scrolling foliage, with hinged lid, the gold with French assay mark and maker's mark for Georges Le Sache, the base with striker plate, the attached gold ring marked Tiffany; for a similar example see Phillips, Clare, Bejeweled by Tiffany 1837-1987, Yale University Press: New Haven, 206, pg. 32-33, similar match safe illustrated in Fig. 17.

Georges La Sache (b. 1849) was a jewelry designer and manufacturer who worked with some of the most significant jewelry houses of the 19th and 20th centuries. He trained with Friedman in Germany and studied in England before settling in Paris. Le Sache worked with Falize, Baucheron et Guillain, and Tiffany & Co., among others.
