Fine Upstate South Carolina Owensby Six Gallon Jar. This glossy olive color alkaline glazed lug handle storage jar circa 1890-70s. The jar is unsigned and bears two "66" on the top shoulder next to the lug handle. Strong Owensby shop due to lug handle placement on shoulder. Also a flat style rim typical of Owensby shop, also three deep concentric lines. Very interesting that a pair of six's which is more than likely for capacity. Outstanding form and glaze, with stellar condition only a rim chip and top glaze flakes. Standing 15" Tall x 42" Circumference. No repairs or cracks. Fresh from a Madison Georgia collection.
