Roman Period, Ca. 100 BC - 100 AD (or earlier). Fragment of a pale yellow papyrus inscribed with demotic cursive script. Demotic was used specifically for writing long arduous documents, like literary and religious texts, and represents a development from hieroglyphs as they were highly simplified and easy to write quickly.
