after JEAN DIDIER DEBUT (French 1824-1893) A SCULPTURE, "Porteur d'Eau Tunisien," 19TH/20TH CENTURY, bronze with dark brown patina, inscribed, "Debut," on the ground at base, with the foundry mark, "BRONZE GARANTI AU TITRE," with a cast bronze plaque at front marked, "PORTEUR D'EAU TUNISIEN / PAR DEBUT / 1ER PRIX DE ROME." Height: 25" Width: 10" Depth: 10" Provenance: Collection of Ana Marentez, The Woodlands, Texas.
Condition
There is dust and some rubbing on the surface. The patination is separating in areas - especially on the left front shin and on the inside of the right arm. The figure is slightly loose on the base.
