Description
Rare original 1940s oil painting by artist George Federoff marked from a gallery in Washington DC. Acquired from a very high end MCM estate in Indian Head, MD. Unique surrealist painting depicting a nude woman reclining at her mother’s gravesite under a tree with other gravestones and a river and trees in the background. Features many muted shades of green, blue, yellow, white and gray. The artist imigrated to the U.S. from Russia during the Russian Revolution and studied painting in France. He worked in Alaska for the Department of the Interior and is best known for his craftsman style woodworking pieces inspired by traditional Native American techniques. Federoff has pieces listed at the Smithsonian and Museum of Modern Art (MOMA). Oil on panel. 22" x 27".
Condition
Good vintage condition. A couple spots of paint chipping.
