Description
Single 15" Globe Lens on Metal High Profile Body. Rare c. 1920's single lens for Pepco Independent Gasoline, a product of Peffer Oil Company, Kinston, Pennsylvania. Lens features unique script with Thunderbird graphic, and is one of the only original examples we have ever sold. CONDITION: Lens is in overall fair condition showing very good colors throughout with a very nice Thunderbird graphic. The backside of this lens has a large layer of thick mud on it which is what may have preserved this lens so well. The lens appears to be non-fired and shows some areas of paint bubbling in the red. The white backing is also fairly nice, but shows areas of discoloration and wear along the edge. The lens shows an excellent original age & patina throughout and although shows wear, displays very well. Lens is set by snap-ring into an original high profile metal body, which has been painted red and shows areas of age & wear. A scarce piece of Independent Gasoline advertising. Condition: (7.0). Dimensions: 15" Dia.
