Appears 19th century. The stone of pale celadon tone with iron red blended passages, carved as a hatted scholar, fisherman sheltering in a cave with stalactites. Carved poem on the reverse (see last photo for translation). Sets upon a carved wood stand with stone inlay. Measures 18" tall x 15"x 8". From the Barr Estate. The Poem loosly translates to River SnowA thousanad mountains, No sign of birds in fightTen thousands path, no trace of humnab tracks.In a lone boat, an old man, in rain hat and starw raincoat.Fishing alone in the cold river snow.
