Description
Bronze statue of Seated Hermes, likely a Grand Tour souvenir. Originally discovered at the Villa of the Papyri in Herculaneum in 1758 it was the most celebrated work of art discovered at Herculaneum and Pompeii in the eighteenth century. It is currently in the National Archaeological Museum of Naples. Good aged surface patina. Crack to figure's extended leg below knee. 8" H x 7" L x 4.25" W approx.
