Benjamin Franklin, rare facsimile letter, c. 1817, Engraving on laid paper, A. Anderson Sc., of a 1744 letter from Franklin to Cadwallader Colden, physician and acting Governor of the Province of New York, informing him that the American Philosophical Society had been formed in Philadelphia; a hand-written note on the verso, dated 1889, refers to finding the letter in vol. 2 page 203 of the American Medical & Philosophical Register, taped along top into mat, 12.5"h x 7.75"w (letter), 13.25"h x 10.25"w (mat)
