Provenance: Bolerium Books, The Black Panther Party and related material from the collection of Samuel L. Brooks, Oakland, CA, May 2022, item #22. Samuel L. Brooks is a collector of Bay Area Black community history and Black Panther Party.  This was one of several flags that Samuel Brooks saved, which had been discarded after a rally near the Alameda County Courthouse in Oakland during Huey Newton's 1968 trial for murder. Photographs taken at the 1968 demonstrations show flags such as this example being waived.
