Description
The 1968 Winter Olympics, officially known as the X Olympic Winter Games, was a Winter multi-sport event held in Grenoble, France, that opened on 6 February,1968. Thirty-seven countries participated.Frenchman Jean-Claude Killy won three gold medals in the Alpine Skiing events. In women's figure skating, Peggy Fleming won the only United States gold medal. The games have been credited with making the Winter Olympics more popular in the United States, mainly due to ABC's extensive coverage of Fleming and Killy, who became overnight sensations among teenage girls. (Wikipedia)In this attractive image, the Olympic Rings and colors are represented by clothes spinning, as if in a dryer. In fact, the Bendix Company that commissioned this poster was in the business of selling washing machines and dryers, and they joined the Olympic bandwagon to promote their home appliances. The well-known artist, Herve' Morvan (1917-1980) uses his humorous style to depict the ski jumper in the competition surrounded by spinning clothes. This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.
