Description
The dhodro banam is a type of lute played with a bow, similar to a violin, but with the instrument held in the vertical position.The instrument is decorated at the top with a structure with two pillars. Just below, and in front is a human figure, carved in low relief and on the back side, two cat figures, also carved in low relief. Along the sides and back of the lower part are several carved circular rosettes. Santal, Munda people. Bihar, Orissa, or West Bengal states, India. H: 27.25" (69 cm).
