Description
A LARGE CHINESE PAINTED POTTERY FIGURE, WITH TL TEST AS HAN DYNASTY (208BC - 220AD). Modelled with her arms raised before her with hands clasped together, her long black hair tied behind her, with features picked out in black and red, wearing a long robe with ribbed wide sleeves, tied with a red sash, on a circular Perspex stand. Exc. stand, with CityU Professional Services Ltd (City University of Hong Kong), Report on Thermoluminescence Test, which estimated that the material of sample was last fired about 1190 years ago from date of test, test date 18 November 2006. 58cm high, 60cm high overall. Provenance: Property of a Lancashire family.
Condition
With testing drill hole to the reverse of her head and to her back. Overall in good order. With some typical surface scratching and wear, some losses to pigment although original pigment remains on face, hair and sash. Minor chipping to edge of base. No obvious signs of restoration.
