Description
AN EMBROIDERED SILK PANEL, LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY. Of rectangular form, embroidered with quatrefoil cartouches enclosing a dragon chasing a flaming pearl amongst clouds, in silver, orange and dark grey-green coloured threads reserved on a purple silk ground worked with phoenix, fret pattern and flower heads. 37.2cm x 143cm. Provenance: Property of Dr.G.W.Milledge acquired during his time in China c.1930s, thence by descent.
Condition
Overall this is in good order. The silver threads have oxidised and dulled slightly in places although this is typical for it age. There are some very loose threads to the edges of panel, very minor losses to some threads, small repair at reverse of backing.
