Pre-Columbian, Central Coast Peru, Chancay, ca. 800 to 1200 CE. A set of 2 hand-built pottery vessels - a bowl and a vase - with attractive motifs painted in black or red-brown hues. The bowl is of a squat, round-bottomed form with a rim overhanging the basin, an X centered within the basin, and crosshatch-filled triangles surrounding the shoulder. The taller vase has a slender cylindrical form atop a concave foot, a pair of loop handles just beneath the thin rim, and walls adorned with zigzagging, russet-hued columns. Size (vase): 3.625" W x 10" H (9.2 cm x 25.4 cm); (bowl): 3.6" W x 2" H (9.1 cm x 5.1 cm)

Vase has small loss to exterior portion of 1 loop handle as shown, with chipping to exterior surfaces around lower body; bowl is intact and very good. Nice preservation to painted decorations on both vessels.
