Description

Complete vintage 10-volume Numbered Limited Edition of classic literature in collectible condition (#549 of 1000). Comprised of five matching two-volume sets, this set was privately printed by the Aldus Society for its members. Each book is hand-numbered "549" on the limitation page. The two-volume sets are: The Decameron of Giovanni Boccacci (Il Boccaccio) by John Payne; The Confessions of Jean Jacques Rousseau by Maurice Leloir; The Heptameron of the Tales of Margaret Queen of Navarre by George Saintsbury; The Novellino of Masuccio; and The Tales and Novels of J. De La Fontaine. Each book has twenty illustrations (the Masuccio books have eighteen) by such illustrators as Freudenberg, Hughes, et al. All books are in sound condition with no wearing through of the cloth and firm hinges. Generally clean with sunned spines. All top edges gilt; fore edges deckled as published. All paper labels except one are complete but a little difficult to read. The remaining label is missing about 1/3 of its right side. 6 x 8. Average 250-300 pp. per book.
