A late 19th century French brass carriage clock produced for the Chinese market with repeat, alarm and seconds hand
the Cannelee case with allover foliate engraved decoration and canted scrolling swing handle above a glazed oval viewing aperture, the enamel dial with 2' Roman chapter ring with Breguet hour, minute and seconds hands above an Arabic subsidiary alarm, the twin drum movement with platform lever escapement with compensated balance, striking the hours and half hours on a bell with a repeater function, the backplate mounted with the striking mechanism and winding arbours, marked to the lower right with Chinese characters, and with winding instructions in English, the plinth base mounted with the alarm bell to the underside, 19cm high, 9.5cm wide, 8.5cm deep overall
