"Leaping Ouananiche" 1937 Etching by W. J. Schaldack. Pencil signed lower right corner. Frame size: 13" H x 12 3/4" W x 1/2" D. Image size 6 1/2" H x 5 1/2" W. Uninspected out of frame. Frame is soiled and has some wear.
William Schaldach (1901-1985) was an American artist best known for his watercolor landscapes and illustrations. Born in New York, Schaldach studied at the National Academy of Design and the Art Students League. He went on to become an accomplished watercolorist, capturing the beauty of the American countryside in his paintings. Throughout his career, Schaldach continued to hone his craft and experiment with new techniques. He was known for his mastery of light and color, as well as his ability to capture the essence of a scene in a single brush stroke.
