Country store spool cabinet and slant top desk, supplied to stores by the American Thread Co. This firm was a joint venture of English Cotton Sewing Co. and J&P Coats, following the merger or acquisition of 13 smaller American firms. It was founded in 1898 and was broken off in 1914 after Anti-Trust action by the US Government. This spool cabinet would date from that period. Solid oak, 32"WX23 1/4"DX16 1/2"T. Four spool drawers, topped by a slant top writing surface with inkwell, and a lift top for storage of order forms, receipts, etc.The cabinet is paneled on all 4 sides, with a small gallery rail around the front section. There is a small metal business card holder on the LH side of the cabinet.

Good used condition. The slant top is missing the felt writing surface, which is easily replaced, and the glass ink cup is missing, though the metal hinged lid is still present. There is a small piece of trim missing from the base on the back (customer) side of the cabinet. See photos.
