Canadian. c1890s. Wood with applied lithographed labels. The Alpha Chemical Company of Berlin, Ontario produced a very wide range of household products around the turn of the century. The detailed interior label features a Victorian British soldier in action. Airburning to the interior shows that this box originally contained 12 individual containers of the product. Marked, "Howell Lith. Co. Hamilton Ontario". Howell was a well known producer of Cigar Box labels during this period. Original manufacturers tag on end. 3.5" x 12.5" x 9.5".
