Ancient Southeast Asia, Vietnam, Dong Son culture, ca. late 1st millennium BCE. A fine pair of leaded bronze bracelets, each consisting of 2 thick, tubular bands attached along their lateral edge. Roughly the same size, the first is of torque-form and displays a raised, circular embellishment on the exterior of one end. Alternatively, the second bangle is ring-shaped and boasts an exterior adorned with dozens of incised, diagonal striations as well as an applied spiral motif. Note the rich layers of seafoam green and russet patina enveloping both examples! Size (both about the same): 1.1" W (2.8 cm); outer diameter: 3.1" W (7.9 cm); inner diameter: 1.9" W (4.8 cm)
