Schooled in the Japanese tradition of wood fired ceramics, Paul Chaleff is known world wide for his contemporary wood fired pots. Examples of his work are in the permanent collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; The Museum of Modern Art, New York; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Renwick Gallery at the National Museum of American Art / Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C.; among many other prestigious collections.
This piece is consistent with the artist's 1980 piece in the permanent collection at the MoMa (object number 629.1980).
