The canvas has been relined, and the varnish is a little dirty and scuffed. There's some minor abrasion around the edge, presumably where the frame has rubbed. It is just possible to see scattered old infillings to the background, upper right, and to the skin tones, and old restoration to the shadow tones of the costume. There are a few small losses in the lower right corner.
Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals: the aforementioned restorations and infillings; restoration to the folds of the curtain, left; strengthening to the cuffs of the shirt; further old restoration to the folds of the drapery; an area of restoration, approximately 3x4cm, to the background, upper right. The varnish is uneven, and so further restoration cannot be excluded.
