An oversized, magnificent image of Italian tenor Beniamino Gigli (1890-1957), signed and inscribed to the portrait’s photographer on the mount, "To Angelo Laviosa, with my admiration and appreciation for the wonderful work / Beniamino Gigli 1939". Matted photograph measures 12.5" x 18.5", beautifully framed to an overall size of 19" x 25". Rare in this format, and in fine condition.
Considered the most famous Italian tenor after Caruso, Gigli achieved great success at New York’s Metropolitan Opera from 1920-1932, and as a guest artist there during the 1938-1939 season.
