Description

The Cuban Railroad Stock Certificate, for 10 Shares, Dated 1910

1p, measuring 11.5" x 8", Jersey City, New Jersey, dated February 16, 1910. A Cuba Railroad Company stock certificate, No. B6455, issuing 10 shares of Preferred Capital Stock, $100.00 each, to Robert Flemming. Signed by the president and treasurer of the company. Transfer information on verso, showing that the stock was transferred to Mailand Coppell & Co on October 3, 1910. Stamped as being canceled on December 5, 1910. Decorated with a vignette featuring a train. With cancellation punches, creasing, and light edge toning. Very good overall.

The Cuba Railroad Company was founded in 1900 and was a driving force for the development of the Cuban railroad system. The company, however, was not nationalized until 1960 when Fidel Castro took power in Cuba.
