Description
West Africa, Ghana, Mali, Burkina Faso, Dogon & Ashanti people, ca. late 19th to mid-20th century. A collection of bass and iron ornamental pieces from West Africa. Included are 2 Dogon rings made from thick, twisted iron wires and loops for suspending dangling pieces - one ring is missing these danglers. The Dogon hair pin has 2 figures standing atop the rod as an intricate finial and displays a nice green patina and dark toning. The Ashanti pendant has an applied sun burst motif and the other pendant like item has articulating beads around the central ring. Size of hairpin: 6" L x 1" W (15.2 cm x 2.5 cm)
