Four volumes in one third dark green crushed morocco over cloth, spines ruled and decorated in gilt and in compartments, with marbled endsheets. 155 engraved portraits, fifteen engraved by Cruikshank. LARGE PAPER EDITION, 11 ⅝ x 9 ¼”. Spines sunned, offsetting of images on text, corners and extremities rubbed and worn, faint cracking at spines, else very good. Cohn 119. A handsome set of Caulfield’s classic work profiling conjurors, quacks, con-men, strong men, boxers, and other curious characters, rarely seen in this format.
