Northwestern Europe, England, London, ca. late 20th century CE. An interesting movie or theater clothing prop made by Academy Costumes, comprising thick cotton, leather, and felt as a Roman soldier's costume. Details include painted lions on the tips of each dangling strip forming the skirt and brass buckles and ring clasps for adjusting the fit. This piece is quite thick and padded, but not overly ornamented, and may have perhaps been for a stuntman, an extra, or theater work. The interior panel has the company label and handwritten in ink the name of an actor, Tony Marsh. Academy Costumes establish in 1984 has acquired many props and costumes from the early 20th century up to present and has worked with some major productions and projects for film, music videos, television, and theater, including some iconic productions such as "Alien," "Indiana Jones," the "Harry Potter" series, and Lady Gaga music videos. Size: 30" L x 20" W (76.2 cm x 50.8 cm)

Fading of brown pigments. Handwritten labels of actor's name on interior. Cracking to leather straps. Staining and discoloration from use but is still wearable.
