Description
World War I- era Austro-Hungarian Officer’s Sword within the original black leather and gilt-mounted sheath, with both brass hangers. The ornate half-basket guard features a wonderfully detailed Austro-Hungarian double-headed eagle coat of arms. The shark skin grip is in excellent condition, wire is tightly wrapped. A maker mark of ‘WEYERSBERG KIRSCHBAUM & C SOLIGEN’ is displayed on the ricasso. The blade itself is in near pristine condition, unsharpened, as is customary for dress swords. Appearing on the gilt-finished brass mountings of the scabbard and the guard is an area of moderate patina. The cypher of Franz Joseph I of Austria is featured at the top of the black gloss leather scabbard. The surface of the leather has cracked and chipped away in several places, still a very nice sword.
