Description
Le Corbusier; Pierre Jeanneret, Charlotte Perriand. 'LC-4' chaise longue, 1928-29. H. 80 x 160 x 57,5 cm; Tube: D. 2.5 cm. Made by Heidi Weber, Zurich, in 1959. Base of steel, painted black, oval bars, rocker of chrome-plated tubular steel, metal springs.
Condition
PROVENANCE: Private property of a nurse, who got the lounge chair as a gift from a man whose seriously ill wife she had attended to over many years at the PUK Psychiatrically University Hospital Basel. In 1959 the patientÕs husband had bought this Le Corbusier piece from Heidi Weber (Zurich), had added steel connectors at the laterals that should uptake a rack structure to help his wife to get in and out of the chair. When the wife had died in the beginning of the 1980s, the widower gave the chaise longue to the nurse. Then private collection Switzerland.
