Description
4" Hardstone Discoidal Made by the Late Donnie Lemons who lived in Pike Co, IL most of his life. Donnie was a very talented maker of pipes, birdstones, bannerstones, discoidals, axes and all things that the indians made by pecking or grinding or carving. This is a very good example of his work. Most of his artwork was made from the 1970's to the late 1990's. His work was strongly influenced by the most famous of hardstone makers of the 20th century Billy Guthrie as well as the Late Jean Johns. The artistry of stone in that area continues to present day carried on by children and grandchildren of these past stone workers. The material this discoidal is made of is hard to put a name on. We want to say it is a pudding stone but may be a brown colored granite with porphory spots.
