Description
Copper alloy altar depicting the historical Buddha Shakyamuni standing on a small, single lotus-flower base resting itself on a layered plinth. The figure is lavishly attired in a thin robe, a showy necklace and an intricate crown. His right hand is in the gesture of encouragement abhayamudra, while his left hand holds a lotus blossom bud. Buddha is surrounded by a sober prabha whose border is openwork decorated with vegetal motifs and culminates in a flame. Praying figure at the base of the altar. Condition: Good condition consistent with age: small, minor chips and on of the rear feet damaged.
