PAIR EARLY DANISH MODERN CANED BERGERE CHAIRS

Item Details

Description

Fine Scandinavian craftsmanship is evident in all of the special little details of these chairs, such as the armrests sculpted to perfectly cradle the elbow; the solid wood frame rubbed to a rich glow - or the subtle Modernist winged line of the back crest. The sides and backrest are lace-caned; the cushions upholstered in original blue-green chenille. c. 1940's. Dimensions: H 33" x W 28.5" x D 27" x SH 16.5" Condition: Replacements made: Seats appear to have been re-banded. Wear consistent with age and use. Upholstery starting to harden and crunch slightly. Some sun fading and discoloration to chenille. A few scattered nicks, scuffs, and rubs to frame. M159
