Description
2 Chinese Armorial Export 18th Century Porcelain Oval Platters in underglaze blue border with the Huguenot arms of Teissier, granted to Lewis Teissier of Broad Street, a London merchant; probably for his second son (indicated by the crescent), with Motto SIT ORDO IN OMNIBUS (let there be order in all things) and with 2 Boars; bases unglazed. Width of larger platter 14 3/4 inches (37.5 cm.). NOTE: See Howard, David S.; Chinese Armorial Porcelain, Volume II, p. 575. PROVENANCE: Purchased from Dianne Knight / Fine Porcelains / Locust Valley, NY with her label to each.
Condition
