1850's Indigo Blue, Red & White Jacquard Woven Coverlet Center Seam With Star Designs

A deep indigo blue, red and white 19th century New York /Pa jacquard coverlet c1850s.

Measures 100" x 64" and is a hand loomed coverlet. This coverlet is medium weight and thickness. This coverlet has missing fringes and hand-turned rolled edge on one side. The pattern one side is reversed on the other in different color.

It has a crisp and firm hand to the fibers, made of natural undyed cotton and indigo blue wool.

Probably never having been washed, it was most likely used on special occasions and spent most of it's life carefully stored to be handed down to the next generation. The fiber is strong and still has great body.

This unsigned coverlet is in good original condition with no fading and numerous wear, as seen in photos, the center seam has been reworked into a raised seam, as shown in photos. no insect damage, no color bleeding, no odors, fringe loss, scattered small oxidation brown storage spots, and with one small purple repair. Probably never having been washed, it was most likely used on special occasions and spent most of it's life carefully stored to be handed down to the next generation. The fiber is strong and still has great body.

Good for its age. Like most home woven coverlets from this time period, it is done in two halfs and joined together with a center seam. Overall threads are in sturdy and strong condition, not weak at all.

This lovely wool coverlet can be displayed in your period home and enjoyed for years to come!!
