Description
An antique Chinese footed marble and silver plated incense burner. The burner is adorned with engraved detailed patterns, figural handles in the shape of a Pixiu, a Chinese mythical hybrid creature, and a figurine of a Foo dog on the top of the ware. The upper part is decorated with relief images of lizards, openwork accents, and a border with a Greek motif. Mounted on the base with three figural legs made in the shape of a dog with an open mouth, decorated with engraved Greek and ornamental patterns. Marked with an impressed stamp with hieroglyphs on the bottom. Circa: late 19th century to early 20th century.
