Description
Pair of F. Barbedienne (1820-1892) Champleve and Gilt Bronze Covered Urns, late 19th c., of tapered form with figural classical male bronze handled shoulders over colorful art nouveau champleve decoration, signed on the center bronze band "F. Barbedienne," on a stepped gilt bronze circular base with four splayed paw feet, now wired as lamps, Urns- H.- 13 in., W.- 7 in., D.- 5 1/8 in.
Condition
Both bases are sturdy. There are no loose elements. Gilt appears to be original with slight areas of wear at the tops and on the human-form handles. Both are signed on the front. The lamps are in working order. One urn has a small chip to the enamel towards the base. The other has one chip at the base and two towards the top seen in the additional photos. The chips are flakes off the surface but no metal is showing in these areas. There are a few scattered “pinholes” in the enamel. These are excellent examples.
