Description
Unusual English Georgian Carved and Banded Oak Chest, 18th c., the stepped rounded edge three board top over a center cupboard door above a short drawer, flanked by a bank of three banded drawers on each side, flanked by fielded panel sides with folding iron handles, H.- 23 in., W.- 61 1/2 in., D.- 21 in.
Condition
This is a handsome example with signs of wear that are consistent with its age. Both side panels have a shrinkage crack running their vertical length. The top has some watermarks and rings. The middle drawer on the proper right side has a 1 ½ in. area of veneer loss along the top edge. The central swinging door has the same area of veneer loss and is warped causing the door not to close flush.
