1795 Robert Morris Declaration of Independence Signer Signed North American Land Company Stock Certificate
ROBERT MORRIS (1734-1806). Signer of the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, and the United States Constitution, Patriot of the American Revolutionary War, known as the "Financier of the Revolution," United States Senator from Pennsylvania; one of only a few Patriots who Signed all three Founding Documents.
October 15, 1795-Dated, Partially-Printed Document Signed, "Robt Morris," as President of the North American Land Company Stock Certificate, Philadelphia, Framed, Choice Very Fine. The Certificate measures 9.75" x 12.5", professionally modern wood framed under special UV Plexiglas to fully 14.75" x 17.5". This Stock Certificate is made for four shares, issued to a James Rees. The Certificate is printed in black on laid period paper with a scalloped left margin cut halfway through the printed text "North American Land Company". The signature "Robt Morris" is very bold in vivid deep brown ink measuring a huge 3.25" long. Some slight tone and roughness around outer margin edge, a couple minor centerfold edge splits, yet superior having no ink paper erosion at Morris' massive signature.
Robert Morris signed the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, and the Constitution, and founded the Bank of North America; he was also the Continental Congress' financial wizard assisting during the American Revolutionary War. His later land speculations however ended badly, resulting in his bankruptcy and 3-1/2 years spent in "Prune Street" the Debtor's prison. Robert Morris was released in 1801 with the passage of the national bankruptcy law. Very attractively framed and excellent for display

Robert Morris, Jr. was an American merchant, and signer to the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, and the United States Constitution.
He was elected to the Pennsylvania Assembly and became the Chairman of the Pennsylvania Committee of Safety, and a member of the Second Continental Congress where he served as the Chairman of the Secret Committee, and as a member of the Committee of Correspondence. Later Morris was known as the "Financier of the Revolution", because of his role in financing the American side in the Revolutionary War.
From 1781 to 1784, he served as Superintendent of Finance, managing the economy of the fledgling United States. At the same time he was Agent of Marine, a position he took without pay, and from which he controlled the Continental Navy. He was one of Pennsylvania's original pair of US senators, serving from 1789 to 1795.
