Northern Europe, United Kingdom, England, Victorian Era, ca. mid-19th to early 20th century CE. A charming pair of glass apothecary jars converted into lamps, each presenting a tall, cylindrical form capped by a brass neck that extends upward to house the sockets for a pair of 250-watt light bulbs, all sitting upon a brass, pedestal base. Enveloped in a translucent shade of royal blue, the jars are both skillfully painted with a gilt, shield-shaped frame surrounded by floral and vegetal motifs in hues of scarlet, cobalt, emerald, white, and beige.
