Sisson & Martens, p. 43; "Smoke Bellew" 1st ed. New York: The Century Co., 1912 CE. 385 pp. Illustrated by P.J. Monahan (American, 1882 to 1931 CE). 8 plates. Original blue-gray cloth lettered in black with black, white, and cream decoration. BAL 11939. Sisson & Martens, p. 65. A trio of first edition books by the famous Jack London, each containing a collection of short stories that take place in the extreme setting of the Yukon during the Klondike Gold Rush. Born John Griffith Chaney, Jack London was an American novelist, journalist, and social activist who became one of the first American authors to gain international celebrity status. Considered an innovator of science fiction, London was a passionate advocate of unionization, workers' rights, and socialism. He is most famous for writing "The Call of the Wild" and "White Fang," both set in the Klondike Gold Rush which London joined at the age of 21 in 1897.

Condition
All without dust jackets. "The God of his Fathers" is in cover from Doubleday, Page and Co.'s 1909 reprint, but otherwise is in near fine condition with minor bending and nicks to peripheries and corners of cover. "Lost Face" is in good condition with minor tearing, fraying, and bending to edges and corners of cover and some foxing, as well as weathering to edges of pages. "Smoke Bellew" is in near fine condition with light fraying, bending, and foxing to cover and spine. "The God of his Fathers" and "Lost Face" have inscriptions on front free-endpaper, while "Smoke Bellew" has inserted summary on front free-endpaper and stamp of previous owner on pastedown.
