Pre-Columbian, Northern Mexico and Southwestern United States, New Mexico, Casas Grandes, ca. 1200 to 1450 CE. An elegant and simple hand-built pottery olla jar with a geometric motif across the body. The vessel rests on a rounded base and the walls swell gently outward and up to an outturned rim. The surface is slipped in a warm buff hue then overpainted with black and orange-red motifs of triangles and hemispherical shapes. The decorative style of this vessel belongs to the Ramos Polychrome group, which represents the pinnacle of achievement for Casas Grandes ceramics. Size: 8" Diameter x 7" H (20.3 cm x 17.8 cm)

Restored and repaired, with overpainting to motifs and infill along break lines and new material added to gaps. Nice preservation to motifs.
