Northern Europe, Scandinavia, Sweden, ca. 1907 CE. A fine iron plaque of a rectangular form with an arched top adorned with relief portrait tondos of 20 Swedish Regents who ruled the country from 1523 to 1907, beginning with Gustav I and ending with Gustaf V. "SVERIGES REGENTER," which translates to "Swedish Regents," is inscribed above the regal portraits, which are all encircled by their names and gaze right - save for the then-current regent, Gustaf V, shown at the bottom, facing left. The dates 1523 and 1907 are also engraved at the bottom of the plaque, and liberal remains of floral motifs embellish the field. Size: 9.9" W x 14.5" H (25.1 cm x 36.8 cm)
Provenance: ex-private Bishop Family Trust collection, the Trust of the late Bill Bishop, a noted antiquarian with shops in Scottsdale, Arizona and Allenspark, Colorado, USA, acquired before 2010

Condition
Scuff to tondo of third regent in upper right corner. Some nicks to peripheries and softening of detail throughout. Otherwise, intact and excellent with rich patina. Pair of suspension holes at top for display.
