Two (2) Southern Outsider Folk art acrylic on board paintings. 1st item: Ruth M. Robinson (Alabama, b. 1952) portrait painting of an African American man named Elijah Stewart depicting the sitter attired in a blue shirt, blue tie, and glasses against a yellow spotted background. Signed vertically "Rm Robinson" lower right. Inscribed en verso of board "Elijah Stewart- was the son of old mammie Stewart. He live right across the street from the church/ he Sung in the choir but he Still dunk that moon Shine made by uncle louie. you want to know who uncle louie is? well I Better not Tell. Elijah and aunt Hatte were brothers and Sister" and additionally signed and dated "R.M. Robinson Aug 2007." Housed in a contemporary gilt and ebonized wood frame. Sight: 13 1/2" H x 10 1/2" W. Framed: 16 14" H x 13 1/4" W. 2nd item: Johnnie Griner painting titled "On the Porch" an African American man holding an infant, seated on a porch with textiles hanging above along a clothesline. Signed "Johnnie Griner 2008" bottom right corner. Titled and additionally signed and dated en verso. Unframed: 24" H x 20" W.
