DESCRIPTION: Up for auction is a rare signed, limited edition of Maurice Clavel's Le Soulevement De La Vie. This amazing production is illustrated by Olaf Idalie & Jacques Verniere. This limited edition portfolio was produced in 1974 and was limited to 100 signed and numbered copies. This is copy 77. The portfolio's colophon is signed by Clavel, the French writer, journalist, and philosopher, and is also pencil signed by artist Jacques Verniere. Idalie's etching is penciled signed by the artist in the lower right corner. Verniere's linocut entitled "Avanguardia Operaia" is titled in pencil on the lower right. The portfolio includes two linocut border illustrations and 1 blind embossed design. The book was letterpress printed in red and black, and the text is written in French. The production is loose and housed in red-lettered and blind embossed wrappers, red cloth slipcase, and chemise. Here is the French text from the colophon: "...Cet ouvrage constitue l'edition integrale du commentaire du film de Maurice Clavel realise pour l'emission de television "A armes egales" qui, le 13 Decembre 1971, fut censure d'un mot. L'Appel a ete compose a la main en Garamond de trois corps et tire en deux coleurs sur la presse-a-bas "Belaqua" de Jacques Verniere, a Verone, 1974. Les impressions rouges, en marge, marquent quelques reperes de la bande-image, en accord avec l'auteur. Il est illustre d'un burin original d'Olaf Idalie, d'un linoleum et trois bois de J. Verniere. Ila a ete tere 100 exemplaires sur Auvergne a la main du Moulin Richard de Bas; les 50 exemplaires de tete, numerotes de 1 a 50, avec une suite des gravures justifees et signees..."

Condition
The book and prints are in near fine condition with a few pale, marginal spots to a couple of the leaves and some age-toning to several of the page edges, see photos. The red cloth slipcase is in near-fine condition with shelf wear and mild scuffing, see photos. The portfolio will be carefully packaged and shipped in a box.
